Circular Pizza is an interactive science education and networking format that actively involves participants and makes practical solutions for the regional implementation of the circular economy tangible and experience-based. The focus lies on raising awareness of food waste reduction and strengthening regional value chains.
The format can be implemented either as a Circular Pizza workshop and/or as Circular Pizza catering.
Using regional surplus and leftover ingredients, participants collaboratively prepare high-quality pizza. Through co-creation, they are introduced to good practices, learn how to close material loops, and explore ways to avoid waste. A particular focus is placed on innovative solutions for the reuse of bread and bakery by-products.
In the Circular Pizza catering format, the principles of the circular economy are made accessible in a low-threshold way: alongside the served pizza, all regional ingredients used are presented, similar to a small market stand. This gives participants direct insight into the origin of raw materials, the use of surplus products, and applied good practices, creating a transparent learning space for resource-efficient concepts.
