Hack the Future

Hack the Future is launching as a new innovation format that provides young talents, start-ups, research groups, students, pupils and interdisciplinary teams with a platform for forward-looking ideas along the forest–wood–bioeconomy value chain. The initiative aims to showcase innovative projects, generate new impulses and support the further development of promising ideas.

Projects can be submitted in six categories:

  • Forest Management
  • Wood & Applications
  • Bioeconomy
  • Research & Theses
  • Communication & Education
  • Digitalisation

Teams can submit their projects via the application form until 12 June 2026. Following the submission phase, an expert jury will review all entries and invite the most promising projects to the Hackathon Show Day.

Participating teams will be supported by mentors and given the opportunity to further develop their ideas in a targeted way. During the Show Day on 23 June 2026 at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz), teams will present their projects to an interdisciplinary jury. The best submissions in each category will be honoured during an award ceremony on 12 October 2026.

In addition to presenting projects to a broader audience, Hack the Future offers direct exchange with experts and valuable feedback to support further development steps. Participation in the programme is free of charge.
