Forest soils and forest ecosystems are crucial for climate resilience, biodiversity, and sustainable value creation. The Mission Expert Talk “Soil, Forest, Bioeconomy: From Project Results to Valorisation?” takes a closer look at current project findings and explores how they can lead to concrete applications and lasting impact.
The focus lies on the interface between soil – forest – use – bioeconomy. What knowledge is already available? Where do gaps in information or responsibility remain? And what is needed to ensure that results reach practice and policymaking more quickly?
Thematic Focus Areas
Three thematic blocks bring together different perspectives: the role of forest soils in carbon cycles and ecosystem stability – including new tools such as AI-supported site mapping; biodiversity and forest management strategies in times of climate change; and value creation potential along the forest-wood value chain, as well as the long-term impacts of forest use on soils and ecosystems.
Contributions come, among others, from BOKU University, theUniversity of Innsbruck, the Federal Research Centre for Forests (BFW), IIASA, theThünen Institute of Forest Ecology and the University of Graz.
The event concludes with a summary of key insights and an overview of current funding opportunities and relevant support services offered by the FFG.
