In 2026, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management will once again award the Austrian Forest Prize (Staatspreis Wald). Projects can be submitted in eight categories until 28 February.
The prize recognises and supports outstanding achievements and initiatives by individuals, organisations and institutions that make an exemplary contribution to sustainable, climate-resilient and innovation-driven forestry in Austria. The award highlights the diverse and innovative ways in which forests can provide both ecological and economic benefits, while also strengthening the identity and role of forest managers.
With the expansion to eight categories, the wide range of innovative measures and exemplary projects in Austria is acknowledged:
- Sustainable forest management
- Climate-adapted forest management
- Protective forest management
- Forest–wildlife management
- Bioenergy
- Innovation
- Youth
- Public relations
