From 20 to 29 January 2026, the 73rd Winter Conference will take place across Austria under the theme “Bargain Hunting in a Delicatessen – The True Cost of Cheap Agriculture”. Once again, key topics in agriculture and forestry will be addressed, providing insights into current challenges as well as political and economic developments and innovations in the agricultural sector.
The Forestry Thematic Day will take place on 27 January 2026 at HBLA Bruck an der Mur and will focus on international developments, new approaches in forestry, and current issues related to markets and digitalisation. The role of the bioeconomy and its potential for sustainable value chains in forestry will also be discussed.
At the centre of the programme is the interplay between international regulations, rising demand for timber and the potential of the bioeconomy. Discussions will address sustainable forest management, new tools and innovative technologies such as drones and artificial intelligence. The thematic day provides insights into current developments in the sector, highlights the perspectives of the younger generation of forest managers as well as future-oriented value chains, and invites participants to exchange views on the future of forestry.
For questions regarding the Forestry Thematic Day, Martina Bärnthaler (Ökosoziales Forum Österreich & Europa) is available as the contact person.
