Innovation Salzburg

Innovation Salzburg is the innovation and location agency for Salzburg. As the first point of contact for our regional companies and scientific institutions, we further develop Salzburg as a location for business, research, technology and innovation by networking and cooperating regionally, supraregionally and internationally.

In the topic area of bioeconomy, we rely on our long-standing activities in the fields of alpine construction, construction materials from renewable or biogenic materials (smart materials), sustainable procurement, resource efficiency and circular economy. The existing regional hubs for these topics will be used as “idea workshops” for innovations along the entire value chain of wood-based systems, both for material and energy-related issues. For the planned knowledge transfer to companies, the real situation of Austrian small and medium-sized enterprises is to be taken into account in particular, for which the corresponding expertise is available in the province of Salzburg due to the given company structure (many SMEs). The aim is to identify the necessary requirements on the one hand, and to develop suitable forms of knowledge processing and transfer into practice on the other hand, in order to reach companies from high-tech to low-tech applications. For the review, best practice examples are sought, which, in addition to the technology and innovation potentials, should also take into account measures regarding suitable employee qualifications or training and further education.
