The Austrian Biomass Association is recognizing outstanding projects, innovative solutions, and exceptional achievements in the field of wood energy for the fourth time in 2026. Under the motto “Good Heat Grows Back”, projects can be submitted until 30 September in three categories:
- 1) Pellets: Projects along the wood pellet value chain
- 2) Bioheat Installations: Projects involving Bioheat Partner® installations
- 3) Energy Wood: Innovative solutions for the fuel supply chain involving wood chips and firewood
- – Special Award for Security of Energy Supply: Innovative approaches to ensuring an independent, regional energy supply
Target Groups
Companies, organizations, and project managers who have implemented a project between 2024 and 2026 in one of the above categories or are currently implementing one are eligible to apply. Submissions are open to both companies and private individuals. Projects will be evaluated based on quality, sustainability, innovation, security of supply, and implementation.
Prizes and Winners
The prize money amounts to EUR 1,000 per category and will be donated to a charitable organization selected by the respective winners.
The jury includes representatives from the wood energy sector as well as other experts. The winners will be honored at an official award ceremony. In addition, the projects will be presented in the Ökoenergie newspaper.

To submit a project, applicants must download a questionnaire from the Austrian Biomass Association’s website, complete it, and send it to the following email address: holzenergiepreis@biomasseverband.at
