PHOSPHORUS MANAGEMENT

Future-proof use and recovery of phosphorus as a critical raw material and essential nutrient.

The initiative addresses the innovation needs in phosphorus management, particularly the recovery from wastewater, sewage sludge, and incineration ash. Against the backdrop of new EU and national regulations, technological and organizational solutions for closing phosphorus cycles are being developed to reduce import dependencies and establish sustainable recycling structures in Austria.

PHOSPHORUS, KARL & Co. (28 April 2026)

The kick-off event PHOSPHORUS, KARL & Co. took place on 28 April 2026 in Linz. Following a brief introduction to the initiative’s content and objectives (see also the fact sheet), three keynotes addressed phosphorus management and KARL, the status quo in Austria and in neighbouring countries. Attendees also gained detailed insights into the German Phosphorus Platform DPP e.V.

The subsequent working groups identified areas for action and defined initial concrete thematic priorities for future meetings and potential project developments.

We are happy to share the kick-off event materials upon request.
