Organized by Bioeconomy Austria, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holzcluster-steiermark.at\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.holzcluster-steiermark.at\/\" target=\"_blank\">Holzcluster Steiermark<\/a> and the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/efi.int\/bioregions\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/efi.int\/bioregions\" target=\"_blank\">Bioregions Facility<\/a> of the European Forest Institute, the evening fostered high-level exchange among leading representatives from politics, research, industry, and cluster organizations. Moderated by Vi\u0161nja Ko\u0161\u0107ak, the event developed into an engaging evening that highlighted the opportunities European cooperation presents for the sustainable transformation of the wood-based bioeconomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alex Pinter<\/strong>, Managing Director of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holzcluster-steiermark.at\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.holzcluster-steiermark.at\/\" target=\"_blank\">Holzcluster Steiermark<\/a>, opened the evening with a warm welcome and emphasized the international significance of the Styrian wood industry, as well as the importance of European networking to ensure competitiveness.<br><strong>Inazio Martinez de Arano<\/strong>, Coordinator of the Bioregions Facility at the European Forest Institute, provided insights into the platform\u2019s strategic direction. Its goal is to strengthen regional innovation ecosystems in Europe and to promote the bioeconomy sustainably through knowledge transfer and targeted networking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-5 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" data-id=\"9065\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bioeconomy-austria.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/250702_HCS_Florian_Fasching__1696083-1-1200x800.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9065\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Inazio Martinez de Arano <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Josef Stoppacher,<\/strong> Chairman of the Wood Industry Division of the Styrian Economic Chamber, emphasized the key role that innovative regions play in the economic resilience and further development of the wood industry. Styria, in particular, can set benchmarks thanks to its strong cluster-based approach. <strong>Florian Kamleitner<\/strong> presented the development of Bioeconomy Austria \u2013 a platform that translates national bioeconomy strategies into practice with a clear regional focus. Connecting regional anchoring with strategic orientation is essential for effective implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-6 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" data-id=\"9063\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bioeconomy-austria.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/250702_HCS_Florian_Fasching__1696152-1200x800.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9063\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Florian Kamleitner<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kilian Silberschneider<\/strong> additionally provided insights into current regional and national activities of the platform, using concrete examples\u2014such as the research projects SerenoWood, BIOCHARm, and the Wood Vision Lab\u2014to demonstrate how innovation projects are being developed and implemented along the wood value chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-7 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" data-id=\"9062\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bioeconomy-austria.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/250702_HCS_Florian_Fasching__1696172-1200x800.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9062\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Kilian Silberschneider<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Regional Minister <strong>Willibald Ehrenh\u00f6fer<\/strong>, responsible for economy, labor, finance, science, and research, highlighted the opportunities arising from cooperation with European initiatives such as Bioregions\u2014not only in terms of access to know-how, but also in positioning Styria as a model region for sustainable construction and smart use of wood as a resource. At the same time, he underlined the importance of Styrian expertise for European innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-8 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" data-id=\"9061\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bioeconomy-austria.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/250702_HCS_Florian_Fasching__1696230-1200x800.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9061\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Willibald Ehrenh\u00f6fer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The networking evening marked the grand finale of an intensive tour that included visits to leading companies and research institutions\u2014from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mm-holz.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MM Holz<\/a> (focus on CLT), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mm-forsttechnik.at\/de\/index.php\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.mm-forsttechnik.at\/de\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MM Forst<\/a> (cutting-edge forest technology), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tugraz.at\/home\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.tugraz.at\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TU Graz<\/a> (wood and timber construction research) to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weitzer-woodsolutions.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.weitzer-woodsolutions.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Weitzer Woodsolutions<\/a> \u2013 impressively showcasing Styria&#8217;s innovative strength.
