More than 50 % of municipal solid waste in Albania consists of organic materials, which often end up unused in landfills or improperly released into the environment &#8211; with negative consequences for nature and the climate as well as the loss of valuable resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project \u201cUnlocking Potential from Biogenic Waste\u201d aims to develop viable and scalable business models for the utilization of this waste. The focus lies on key areas of the bioeconomy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2022 Bioenergy: e.g., biogas, pellets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Organic fertilizer: from animal and plant-based residues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Animal feed: protein-rich through insect farming or the use of food and fish waste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Biofuels: e.g., from used cooking oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2022 Circular economy &amp; material logistics: efficient collection, separation, and transport of biogenic materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the lab of tomorrow project #26, companies, innovators, and experts from Central and Southeastern Europe will be brought together to jointly develop solutions that strengthen the circular economy and create new sources of income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application deadline<\/strong>: July 14, 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Innovation Sprint<\/strong>: September 9\u201312, 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Location:<\/strong> Albania (Tirana \/ surrounding area)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201clab of tomorrow\u201d is a business development program for adapting or founding new sustainable enterprises in emerging markets. The project promotes economic development to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
