Used Cooking Oil (UCO) is currently used primarily for the production of biodiesel. But how can this residual material also be used as a material resource? BOKU <\/a>University is addressing this question in a current project supported by the Jubil\u00e4umsfonds of the City of Vienna<\/a>. Specifically, the project investigates whether and how used cooking oil can be converted into plastics and composite materials using environmentally friendly crosslinkers, for example for composite materials, design applications, furniture, or applications in public spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n BOKU is organising an online workshop on this topic. The aim is to bring together individuals and organisations interested in exploring UCO as a raw material for new applications and potentially developing the topic further together. The workshop will focus on getting to know one another, presenting initial results, and exchanging views on possible applications, barriers, and next steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The workshop is aimed at stakeholders from fields such as design, furniture production, plastics and composite processing, commercial kitchens, catering, gastronomy, collection, recovery, and recycling.
