On 27 February 2026<\/strong>, around 40 participants from Eastern Styria gathered at Weitzer Woodsolutions<\/a><\/strong> in Weiz for the stakeholder dialogue \u201cDiversity on Site: Eastern Styria \u2013 Forest\u2013Wood\u2013Bioeconomy as a Regional Asset.\u201d<\/em> The open dialogue format was organised as part of the information campaign \u201cVielfalt braucht Bewirtschaftung (Diversity Needs Management<\/a>)\u201d<\/strong> and brought together stakeholders from business, education, the public sector and regional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants shared regional perspectives, identified synergies and defined initial approaches for collaboration and implementation within the region. The discussion focused on three key themes: innovation and cooperation<\/strong>, education and skills development<\/strong>, and the positioning of a strong region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regional networks as drivers for implementation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The dialogue clearly showed that Eastern Styria already has a strong foundation of know-how and networks along the forest\u2013wood\u2013bioeconomy value chain<\/strong>. The key challenge now is to make targeted use of existing interfaces and strengthen cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The location in Weiz provided a particularly fitting setting: the innovative host company Weitzer Woodsolutions<\/a><\/strong> and the Wood Vision Lab<\/a><\/strong> offered insights into practical applications and ongoing developments, highlighting the region\u2019s strong innovation capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the participants were representatives from business, regional politics and networks, including Monika Langs<\/strong> (Vice Mayor of Weiz), Martin Buchsbaum<\/strong> (Regional Management Eastern Styria), Michael Schickhofer<\/strong> (Styrian Business Promotion Agency \u2013 SFG), Brigitte Marold<\/strong> (Association of the Austrian Wood Industry, WKO), Alexander Pinter<\/strong> (Wood Cluster Styria) and Christian Metschina<\/strong> (Chamber of Agriculture Styria). The broad participation underlines the importance of the bioeconomy for regional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was organised as part of the information campaign \u201cDiversity Needs Management.\u201d<\/strong> The campaign highlights the benefits and impacts of the forest\u2013wood\u2013bioeconomy value chain<\/strong> through regional dialogue formats, media productions and partnerships that make key future topics tangible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
